David Gilmour returns with Luck and Strange, his first album of new material in nearly a decade. Recorded over five months in Brighton and London, this highly anticipated release features eight brand-new tracks and a stunning reimagining of The Montgolfier Brothers’ “Between Two Points,” with vocals and harp by Romany Gilmour. Produced by Gilmour and Charlie Andrew, known for his work with ALT-J, the album showcases the lyrical brilliance of Polly Samson, Gilmour’s long-time collaborator.

The album brings together an impressive lineup of musicians, including Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert on bass, drummers Adam Betts, Steve Gadd, and Steve DiStanislao, and keyboardists Rob Gentry and Roger Eno. The title track features a special appearance from the late Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, recorded during a 2007 “Barn Jam” at Gilmour’s house. Will Gardner’s string and choral arrangements add depth to the album’s rich sonic landscape.

Packaged in a beautifully designed gatefold sleeve, Luck and Strange includes a booklet featuring photography and artwork by renowned artist Anton Corbijn, inspired by the lyrics of the album’s final track, “Scattered.” This black vinyl pressing offers audiophiles a crisp and immersive listening experience, making it a must-have addition to any David Gilmour or Pink Floyd fan’s collection.

William E. ★★★★★

Eight tracks of pure sonic depth, and the pressing captures every subtle layer of Gilmour's guitar work beautifully. I’ve had it on repeat since it arrived, and the packaging feels solid and premium. Five years of waiting was worth it for this one.

Zoe R. ★★★★★

The vinyl arrived flat and quiet, and the Brighton/London sessions give these eight tracks a warm, live-room feel that suits Gilmour’s guitar tone perfectly. Spinning it twice already, and the subtle keyboard layers really open up on a good system.

Edward ★★★★★

Finally have it spinning and the mix is so warm and full, you can really hear every layer of those eight tracks. The five months of recording in Brighton and London clearly paid off — it's been nearly a decade since his last new material and this feels worth every bit of the wait.
